Mounting Frames

Mounting Frames

Professional mounting frames and installation hardware designed for quick, secure, and reliable signage installation. Fabricated from aluminium SHS, powdercoated or painted finish, our frames generally come with letters attached, wired and ready for installation.

Key Features:

  • Simplified installation process
  • Standardised design for reliable mounting
  • Professional, clean appearance
  • Suitable for various wall types

Perfect For:

  • Professional installation requirements
  • Clean, finished appearance
  • Various wall types and surfaces
  • Quick and secure mounting
  • Maintenance and replacement access

Direct answer

Mounting frames move alignment and wiring work into the workshop

A fabricated mounting frame allows letters and sign components to be pre-positioned, wired and tested before delivery. It reduces individual site set-out and can create a controlled cable route where the facade does not allow every letter to be wired directly through the wall.

Specifications

Solution specification snapshot

Use these details to select the right construction before artwork and engineering are locked in.

Item Trade guidance
Typical material Aluminium SHS; steel where structural loads require it
Finish Powder coat or paint to the project specification
Supply Frame only or letters pre-mounted, wired and tested
Mounting Project-specific wall brackets, tabs, rails or stand-offs
Services Concealed low-voltage cable routing and accessible connections
Sizing Custom; sign span, letter weight, fixing points and freight control sections

Construction

Build the frame around the facade and install sequence

Member size, bracket positions and transport splits are selected after the wall, sign weight and available fixing points are known.

  • Aluminium SHS for lightweight corrosion-resistant frames
  • Steel frame where engineering or concentrated loads require it
  • Welded tabs, rails or brackets matched to site fixing points
  • Removable sections or joins where handling and freight require them

Build options

Frame-only or complete pre-assembled sign

The greatest site saving comes from supplying letters mounted, wired and tested, but frame-only fabrication is available when installers need to complete assembly locally.

  • Bare fabricated and finished frame
  • Letters mounted to final spacing
  • Low-voltage wiring consolidated to nominated exits
  • Optional ACM skin or staging panel for full cable concealment

Installation planning

Fixing locations must be verified on site

The frame only simplifies installation when its brackets align with sound substrate. Provide measured fixing zones, obstructions and access limits before production.

  • Confirm structural substrate behind the finished facade
  • Mark allowed and excluded fixing zones
  • Nominate lifting points and maximum handling size
  • Plan final power connection and service access

Size and project limits

Span, weight and transport determine frame sections

Long frames can be split into aligned modules for freight and lifting. Member size and bracket spacing depend on the attached signage, wind exposure and substrate. Structural frames require engineering rather than a generic maximum span.

Indicative guidance only. Final dimensions, structure, illumination and freight splits are confirmed against artwork, site conditions and engineering requirements at quote stage.

Decision help

Frame or individual-letter installation?

Choose a mounting frame when Choose individual mounting when
The facade limits direct cable entries Each letter can be fixed and wired cleanly through the wall
Workshop alignment and pre-wiring will reduce site time The frame would be visually unacceptable
The assembly needs common lifting and fixing points Small, lightweight letters are straightforward to set out

Quote-ready brief

What to send for a mounting-frame quote

  • Sign artwork and overall assembled dimensions
  • Letter or component weights where known
  • Wall elevation, substrate and fixing zones
  • Frame-only or pre-mounted/wired scope
  • Finish colour and visibility requirements
  • Power entry and cable exit locations
  • Handling, transport and site access limits
  • Delivery postcode and required date

FAQ

Common trade questions about Mounting Frames

Can letters arrive already mounted and wired?

Yes. When we supply you with a frame, unless otherwise specified, the letters will be mounted, wired and tested before dispatch.

Are frames always aluminium?

Aluminium SHS is common because it is light and corrosion resistant. Steel may be required for structural loads or engineered connections.

Can a long frame be split for transport?

Yes. Modular joins and alignment features can be designed around freight, lifting and installation access.

Does a mounting frame need engineering?

It depends on size, weight, wind exposure, mounting height and substrate. Structural applications should be reviewed by an engineer.
