Fire-rated signage is not limited to fabricated letters. The face material, cabinet or letter body, illumination and mounting method need to be developed as one system and aligned with the project submission.

The required effect must be designed around the documented material rather than substituting a standard face after approval. Light transmission, sign depth, structure and access determine which format is practical.

Installation planning

Coordinate the complete assembly with the project consultant

Fixings, backs, wiring, drivers, adhesives, coatings and mounting substrates may sit outside the face-material classification. Provide the relevant fire-rating clause and consultant requirements before fabrication so the full proposal can be documented accurately.

Size and project limits

Material format, structure and access set the limits

There is no universal size range for fire-rated signage. Flex-face roll width, polycarbonate sheet size, artwork geometry, cabinet or letter depth, structure, freight and installation access all affect buildability. Send final-size artwork and the project specification for review.

What certification supports Heytex Heylite B1?

The white 680 g/m², 0.6 mm coated woven fabric achieved Group Number 1 in AWTA test 20-004463, tested to AS/NZS 3837 in accordance with AS 5637.1-2015. The supplied product must match that documented specification.

Where do you use Heytex Heylite B1?

It is our default fire-rated flex-face material for suitable illuminated lightboxes and sky signs. Cabinet structure, printing, tensioning, illumination and installation remain project-specific.

What option is available for a rigid-face sky sign?

Selected opal polycarbonate can be used where the project requires a rigid illuminated face and the nominated product documentation is accepted for the sign-off.

Can fabricated letters also use Group 1 materials?

Yes. Depending on the design, selected opal polycarbonate, Corian or Staron can be combined with aluminium or stainless steel fabrication.

Does using a Group 1 face certify the complete sign?

Not automatically. Evidence may apply only to the specific face product and tested configuration. The project fire engineer, certifier or building surveyor must determine whether the complete proposed assembly satisfies the project requirement.

Do you certify the fire rating?

No. We fabricate to the accepted material and construction specification and can provide available product documentation. Project compliance and acceptance remain with the nominated fire engineer, certifier or building surveyor.
